Make- Up Options

Students can choose from one of the following
3 make-up options below.

Not applicable for remote asynchronous courses.

Make-Up Form

Instructions- Options 1 & 2

  1. Students will email the make-up instructor a request to complete a make-up in their class.
  2. The make-up instructor will confirm via email if space is available and provide the zoom link or invite them to the in-person class (whichever is applicable)
  3. Students will be required to show the make-up instructor their MIT ID in-person or via zoom.
  4. Upon confirmation of space, the student will email the fillable make-up form completed with their information to the make-up instructor.
  5. Upon completion of the class, the make-up instructor will email the signed make-up form back to the student so they can email it back to their current instructor for processing.

Note: If space is not available, student will need to make another choice and repeat the process.

Instructions- Option 3

  1. Students will view “Open make-up options” listed under “make-up options” under MY GIR on the PE&W website.
  2. Students will register for a specific day and time using the registration link up to 24 hours before the make-up class they want to join. Each make-up class (day/time) has a separate link
  3. Students will receive Zoom link the day before to the make-up class date.
  4. Students will be required to show make-up instructor their MIT ID via Zoom.
  5. Upon completion of the open make-up class, the make-up instructor will send a confirmation to the student’s current instructor if they were present or not present and cc the student.

Note: If space is not available, student will need to make another choice and repeat the process.

Important Reminders

  • Students must complete 9 (50 minute) remote synchronous and in-person classes in order to pass a course in Quarters 1, 2, 3, 4 and Summer.
  • Students must complete 7 (60 minute) remote synchronous and in-person classes in order to pass a course during IAP.
  • Make-ups must be completed and submitted to your instructor by your last class within the same quarter
  • No more than 2 make-up classes are permitted
  • Students must be prepared to show MIT ID to make-up instructor
  • To encourage social distancing, it is recommended to exchange make-up forms via email for both remote and in-person classes.

Note: All classes have a limited capacity so plan ahead. Instructors are not required to allow you to participate if space is not available. It is recommended you do not wait until the last week to complete your make ups.
