Jarek Koniusz has been reaching PE courses at MIT since 1992 and also serves as the Head Coach of the fencing teams. He has taught archery and the two fencing classes of foil and sabre. Koniusz completed his Master’s degree in Physical Education at the Academy of Physical Education in Katowice, Poland, where he also earned the title of Fencing Master. Koniusz is working on a computerized fencing scoring machine that augments the referees’ judgment of timing in order to make more accurate calls. His favorite thing about teaching and coaching at MIT is the examining the students as shining examples of how academic excellence and athletic success can coexist.
