Parkour is the art of going over or around obstacles, similar to an obstacle course. The course focuses on developing the fundamental attributes required for movement, which include balance, strength, dynamism, endurance, precision, spatial awareness and creative vision. It is a way of training one’s body and mind in order to be as completely functional, effective and liberated as possible in the physical realm, and a way of thinking based on rigorous self-discipline, autonomous action and self-will. Course fee includes instruction and equipment. Once forms are completed, the student’s account will be charged the full course fee. Refunds cannot be issued. This is an Extreme PE course. Offered Q1, IAP, Q3.
Prerequisite: IAP 2025: TR 1/9, 1/14, 1/16, 1/21, 1/23, 1/28. Time: 1:15p-2:45p Registration is pending until all forms sent from PE&W office have been completed by 12/16. Forms will be sent from the PE&W office using the student's MIT email by the close of online registration. Check SPAM folders if emails are being forwarded from an MIT email account.
Equipment: Workout clothes. Court shoes recommended.
Waivers Required: MIT forms will be sent to registered students via MIT email from the PE&W office once registration is closed. Forms must be completed to confirm your registration. Confirmed registrants will receive Parkour waiver directly from Vendor. Must be completed prior to day 1 of classes.
