Robert Hupp

Part-time Specialty Instructor

Robert Hupp has been at MIT since 2012 and is the Assistant Coach for epee and instructs Fencing Physical Education Courses. He received his B.A. in Psychology from Cornell University and in 2002 co-founded the fencing program at the International School of Boston, where he is currently Club Director and Head Coach.  Robert’s favorite aspect of teaching and coaching at MIT is the amazing energy and enthusiasm of the students. For recreation, he enjoys biking, lifting, walking, and teaching fencing.

What is your favorite sport to play or watch

To play and watch would be fencing (of course). To watch would be Team Handball, Soccer, Basketball, or Volleyball.

Favorite extracurriculars outside of your teaching field

I love to read, and I'm sort of an autodidact in that regard. I'm an inveterate tinkerer, and always need some sort of mechanical/creative project going on.
